                                      The 2008-9 FAFSA is available

Remember you must complete the FAFSA to receive financial aid.  If you need help completing the FAFSA, contact your area EOC office.

The 2008-09 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) can be processed any time after January 1, 2008. The form can be done either on line (www.fafsa.ed.gov) or in paper form (call 1-800-4 FED AID to request).  Even if you are unsure which school you will be attending, it is to your benefit to complete the 2008-09 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible.

If you will be attending school between July 1, 2008 and June 30, 2009, please complete the 2008-09 FAFSA even if you have missed the state or school deadlines listed below.  You may still be eligible for Federal PELL Grants and Guaranteed Student Loans.

IMPORTANT - Financial Aid Deadlines – 2008-09 school year
FEDERAL - The deadline for applying for Federal Student Aid (PELL grants, loans, work-study) using the 2008-09 FAFSA is June 30, 2009.
PENNSYLVANIA - The financial aid deadline for PHEAA grants is May 1, 2008 for ALL renewal applicants and new applicants who plan to enroll in a college, university or college-transferable program. The deadline is Aug. 1, 2008 for first time applicants who plan to enroll in a business, trade or technical school, a hospital school of nursing, or a two-year terminal (non-transferable two-year degree) program at a community, junior or four-year college.
CAMPUS BASED
- Check with the school where you hope to enroll for their deadline for submitting financial aid forms for any available campus aid. Each one is different. Some are as early as Feb. 15, 2008.

 

Please note-If you will be attending school between now and June 30, 2008, you may also need to complete the 2007-8 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).  Check with your school.  Even if you have missed the state or school deadlines, you may still be eligible for Federal PELL Grants and Guaranteed Student Loans.

 

 

EOC WORKSHOP CALENDAR

ALLENTOWN, PA AREA

Career Exploration workshops are held at Lehigh Valley Careerlink.  Call the office for dates & times.  Those who sign up MUST BE Careerlink clients who have already gone through their orientation session.  The general public, therefore, must attend one (1) session at the Careerlink prior to signing up.

Decision Making workshops are currently every Friday at the Easton Career Link from 9:30 - 11:15 a.m.

BLOOMSBURG, PA AREA

Call the Bloomsburg EOC office at 570-387-6288, ext. 139 or e-mail elaines@eocinc.org for a schedule of upcoming workshops or for more information.  You must pre-register for any of the workshops.

SCRANTON, PA AREA

Friday mornings at the Lackawanna County Careerlink, EOC offers the Career Decision Making Workshop at 10 a.m. This is free and open to all-no pre-registration is required. The Lackawanna Careerlink is located on Franklin Ave in Downtown Scranton. Due to holidays, the workshop schedule for May is: May 2, May 9th, May 16, and May 30th.  You can call: 570-496-0296 to schedule a 1 on 1 appointment if those dates do not work for you.

Susquehanna Careerlink located on Main Street in Great Bend, O'net Workshops with College Knowledge will be offered June 3rd and July 8th To register call:  1-800-529-0501 x 301

Workshop for Professionals will be Monday, May 19th at 1 p.m at the Lackawanna Careerlink on Franklin Avenue in Downtown Scranton.  No registration required.

New Workshop:  Exploring Heath Careers, Monday, May 19th at 10 a.m. at the Lackawanna Careerlink. No registration required.
