EOC, Inc. provides FREE services to encourage individuals who are interested in continuing their education. We focus on assisting low-income, potential first-generation college students.We are seeking an Academic Specialist for our Talent Search program. This position would be based out of our Hazleton office, with regular travel in the Hazleton and Shenandoah regions. The Academic Specialist is responsible for assisting clients with advancing their education. Job Duties (include, but are not limited to:• Recruit viable participants as identified by the Department of Education set by the grant for EOC program • Visit outreach sites established for recruiting purposes;• Meet with EOC participants in office location, open file (Initial Contact Form), and complete service summary form• Maintain accurate records • Explain program and describe services available• Administer and evaluate career assessment tools• Provide career guidance• Assist with field trips including overnight trips• Provide academic guidance • Assist with financial aid applications (federal, state, institutional, private), college applications, scholarship applications and entry into GED programs• Conduct participant follow-up
Requirements:• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in psychology, education, or counseling • Experience working with diverse populations, including low-income and/or potential first-generation college students.• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred. • This position requires flexibility in scheduling, travel and requires on-call availability. • This position requires a Valid Driver’s License and the use of personal vehicle with appropriate car insurance. • Clearances: PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA State Police Criminal History Check, FBI Fingerprint Clearance
